It’s hard to believe but ten years ago in 2003, Tyra Banks began America’s Next Top Model as the first reality television modeling competition show that brought the high fashion world to aspiring models. Since that first season, it opened the reality television doors for franchise spinoffs from all around the globe (and will be discussed in future blogs!)
But if you thought the summer of 2013’s premiere of the 20th Cycle of America’s Next Top Model was big, just wait till you see Oxygen’s new reality series, The Face. Hosted by former ANTM judge, former model, Nigel Barker, premiering on Tuesday, February 12th!
The Face a combination of America’s Next Top Model and The Voice because models are chosen by one of three supermodel mentor/team leaders: Coco Rocha, Karolina Kurkova, and Naomi Campbell. In the clips I have seen of this show it is behavior of Naomi Campbell that I think will be the real reason to watch this show. I don’t know whether this show will make the same ratings that America’s Next Top Model receives but perhaps this new model competition will be something interesting to watch week by week.
Check out the official preview found on the YouTube Channel TheFaceOnOxygen!
The Face will have a casting special on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 where with the top 24 candidates coming to New York City to audition for one of the 12 spots available on the show (4 models per team). What is not known is whether the candidates with interest from more than one supermodel will be able to chose the team they wish to join.
The Face’s winning model will be the face of a beauty campaign with ULTA.
Definitely check this show out to see if more catfights occur between the supermodels or the model contestants.
More to come!
