Balmain has been one of my favorite fashion shows to follow during Paris Fashion Week because it’s one of those labels has revolutionized the fashion industry. The luxurious designs have been worn by celebrities including Beyonce, Rhianna, Miley Cyrus, Lindsay Lohan, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and countless other stars who assist in influencing pop culture. These are clothes that are meant to seen and worshiped. Balmain clothes remind me of the party girl clothes that the late Gianni Versace created in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Since 2011, Olivier Routsteing, has been the Creative Director of Balmain. He has been responsible for adding a little more soul to the collections. The clothes speak for themselves; they are heavily embroidered, covered in glitz and gold, they are quilted and they make an impact. The fabrics used in the collection were a mix of leather, lace and denim in hues of black, white, pastel blue and pink. Prints featured were herringbone and flannel and paired with heavy belts and gold chain necklace.
Every piece on that runway looked fantastic. However the opening look, an oversized black and white large herringbone printed cardigan paired with a black leather skirt with waved detail that made me think that this collection would make any woman powerful. Perhaps the wide black studded belt and boots accessories added something special to this look. Matching suits and my favorite black leather jumpsuits with gold button details offers the ultimate bad ass look without taking the femininity of the woman.
